About Mona Soul
Bio
Mona Soul, born Jasmine Rorie in Northern Virginia, brings a fresh perspective to R&B/Soul/Hip Hop through her experimental approach, while honoring its rich traditions. As a singer, songwriter, and rapper, Mona's journey began early, joining the youth choir at age 5 and playing the piano by age 9. By 10, she was already writing and producing music, culminating in her debut release in 2016.
Since then, Mona has released an EP and eight singles, alongside crafting over 30 songs for independent artists. Her pivotal moment came at Mickey Shiloh’s “Girl Talk Writing Camp” in 2021, where she secured three album placements, notably co-writing "Stallions" and "Phil of the Future", including her own track "Tsunami". This success led to a fruitful partnership with Gingerr Rust on "Stallions," which charted at number 23 on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds: Hip Hop” playlist.
Beyond her solo work, Mona contributed to projects with renowned artists such as Iyla, Rihanna, and Cardi B. Her talent was recognized in 2020 when she became a finalist in Derek Ali's "Twitch" Indie Artist competition. Mona's performances on the main stage of the Philippine series "Kumu" and her nominations for "Best R&B/Soul Artist" and "Best R&B/Soul Song" at the 36th Annual Wammie Music Awards in 2024 further underscore her impact and versatility in the music industry.
Driven by these experiences, Mona remains dedicated to community involvement and collaborative pursuits, balancing her personal growth with a commitment to pushing musical boundaries.
